Today a student gently interrupted my class because she had lost her bracelet earlier in the morning.  I welcomed her in to look around and she asked loudly, “Has anyone seen my blue and gold Hermes bracelet?”

Wow. Hermes? Pricey!! I wasn’t the only one who thought this and after the girl left, one of my students pointed out, “Why would she wear that to school? It’s like $800.” I was briefly impressed by my student’s practical thinking, but that was quickly overshadowed when a handful of girls chimed in:

“I never wear wine mine to school.”

“Me either!”

“I have two but I don’t wear them to school.”

When I was in high school I was excited about receiving a few sweaters from J.Crew. I guess that’s not cutting it any more? (Important note to family: J.Crew sweaters still make me happy! Keep ’em coming!)
