I concurr! Somehow we’ve reached a point where our society is very comfortable with breasts as sex objects but are offended by their being a source of food. I nurse wherever I need to and have the audacity to not use a hooter hider or similar thing. I see people offending me all day (fat person in spandex, Romney/Ryan bumper sticker). but that’s life. If seeing the back of my baby’s head and the top of my boob is so offensive, look away (just like i do when I see a 10 year old wearing sweatpants with the word ‘juicy’ on the butt).

Sippy cups- buy it (sparingly)
Like bottles, you can’t tell what your kid will like. Even if you have a cup your kid likes, who knows how long that will last. I bought 8 or so straw cups and then Alexis figured put how to make a huge mess with them. Those are now put away and we’ve moved on to licensed Disney characters.

Courtney, I completely agree. I’m all for fancy duds but the sets give you a bunch of crap you don’t need. Plus, I’m not a huge fan of nursery themes.

It’s not furniture but I feel it must be said. Don’t but the $300 set of matched crib bedding. You know the ones: dust ruffle, tiny quilt, crib bumpers, window valance, wall hangings. There is nothing in there that you need and a few things that can be dangerous (bumpers and quilt are SIDS related). You can spend way less than $300 on lovely decor that will cozy up
your nursery.

Is it any coincidence car seats are made primarily from petroleum products, and is it not obvious the babies are in cahoots with the oil industry? And why dont cars come pre-equiped with baby seats, it’s discriminatory.

Ditto on what Liz said. I think Amy Pohler’s character, Leslie Knope, and I have very similar intensity (in a caricature type of way) and a “work-a-holic” penchant. Of course, my soul sister is Hermione Granger.She incapsulates a better (and more magical) me. It was very uncanny for both Matt and me reading her dialogue on the importance of doing all your reading for class. I love your blog, Jenny!
