I’ve worn glasses for the past fourteen years (when did that happen??). I started out just wearing them to see the chalkboard in high school, then for movies, then for driving, then the computer screen, and so on and so on. A few years ago I got lazy and pretty much stopped wearing them unless [...]

Fairway Fail

I tried to go to the new Fairway Market in Douglaston today and could barely get in to the parking lot. You would have thought Justin Bieber was there bagging groceries while Lady Gaga worked the cash register. I promptly headed over to Whole Foods and felt a pang of guilt like I had cheated [...]

Do you want one?” I responded (yelled), “Uhhhh, yeah!” I went with vanilla and it was heavenly. Go get [...]
My Pulitzer Project

Motherhood has afforded more time to read than I expected (Keep eating, Nolan! I want to finish this chapter!), and over the last two months I’ve polished off nearly a dozen books. Yesterday I was moseying around the library looking for inspiration in the fiction section when I picked up Empire Falls by Richard Russo. [...]
